Fifth Annual Heritage Game– Sunday 1 July 2012
In conjunction with Westgarth Baseball Club, UMBC takes great pleasure in announcing the third annual ‘Heritage Game’, to be played at Ross Straw Field, Manningham Street, Parkville (Melway 29 C12) at 12.30pm on Sunday 1 July 2012
The game will again celebrate the rich tradition of baseball between these two fine clubs; reminding current day players of the way baseball “should be played” and showing past players how the game is played now.
The format of the day is as follows:
12.00 Warm up commences for those who deem themselves to be old enough or legendary enough to play in the 90 minute spectacular that is the “Heritage Game”
12.30 Heritage Game starts
2.00 Heritage Game ends
2.40 A Grade game starts – UMBC v Watsonia
For catering purposes, Oldies/Legends who would like to play in the Heritage Game should RSVP to Richard King – email@example.com. If you have a uniform that fits wear it – if not just wear something that you don’t mind getting muddy (or dusty).
Spectators are encouraged to BYO cameras and rose coloured glasses!
The Women’s team will be also be playing on the Sunday at 1.30pm on the outer diamond, so when the oldies get too boring you can go and watch some decent baseball!
Note that the 2nds, 3rds, 4ths and 5ths games will play on Saturday 30 June so current day players from those teams can take part in the festivities.
On behalf of the UMBC Committee, we look forward to seeing you on 1 July.
